At the September 29, 2022 HELU general assembly meeting, the Interim Steering Committee and present HELU members voted to call for applications for an outreach coordinator. This individual will coordinate HELU’s launch as a nonprofit organization and the campaign to onboard endorsing local unions and organizations as HELU member organizations.
This position is stipended at a rate of $40 per hour for a total of 20 hours per week for 10 weeks.

Desired qualifications:
Applicants should have been involved in HELU organizing prior to applying for the position. We prioritize applicants who have attended Organizing For Power (O4P) or similar organizing trainings, or who have diverse labor and/or community organizing experience.
Applicants must have technology skills sufficient to handle record keeping and communications in coordination of complex time-sensitive campaigns involving finances.
Applicants must be prepared to train volunteers in doing organizing and reporting of data.
HELU actively encourages applications from higher education workers who work in more precarious and lower-paid job categories. These include student workers, contingent/adjunct instructors, staff, and any low-wage workers in the sector. HELU encourages applicants who self-identify as BIPOC or from other underrepresented groups.
