Donate to support striking faculty and staff at Governors State

The 270 Academic support professionals and faculty at Governors State University have been trying to negotiate a new union contract with the university administration for 10 months and have been working without a contract since August of 2022. Academic advisors sometimes have hundreds of students and cannot devote the time necessary to guide them through their academic programs. They are negotiating for more reasonable workloads. All of the union members are looking for a salary proposal that accounts for the recent inflation. So far, the administration has not made acceptable proposals in either area. Therefore, the members reluctantly went on strike on April 11.

The 220 members of the University Professionals of Illinois at Governors State University (Local 4100, Illinois Federation of Teachers, American Federation of Teachers, AFL-CIO) appreciate any support that you can offer.
