Representatives of the five Texas higher ed faculty organizations (Texas AAUP Conference, the American Federation of Teachers,; the Texas Association of College Teachers, the Texas Faculty Association, and the Texas State Employees Union) ask HELU supporters to make phone calls to staff of the Texas Higher Education Committee to protest against three bills coming out of the Texas Senate, SB 16, 17 and 18, which would prohibit granting of tenure, eliminate all forms of DEI programs and cut off funding to institutions that do not comply. At this link you’ll find the phone numbers and names of the various staffers to call. HELU supporters from outside Texas are especially urged to make these calls.
