Palm Beach Atlantic University has egregiously violated a professor’s academic freedom. PBA chose not to renew English Professor Samuel Joeckel’s contract because he included written works from Black authors and civil rights activists in his course material, which prompted one parent to accuse him of “indoctrinating students.”
Sign this petition to demand that Dr. Joeckel’s contract be renewed and that he not be terminated from the university. As a Christian university, PBAU must be held accountable for its action against Dr. Joeckel and his teaching. We must not stand idly by while a higher ed institution attempts to fire a teacher for educating students about the realities of racism in America.
