Colleges and universities are under attack. HELU is going on the offensive – join us.
In the past few days, disastrous Supreme Court decisions struck down affirmative action and overturned Biden’s partial student debt cancelation program. This confirms once again: we need a fighting movement to rebuild U.S. higher education. From the Supreme Court to governors and legislatures, higher education is under attack. We must confront the myriad crises affecting students, workers, and communities swiftly and collectively. We ask that you sign up now by filling out the form below to be involved in HELU’s response to the current crises. We will send you more information and invitations to upcoming strategy sessions.
The Supreme Court issued politically-motivated rulings on student debt cancellation and affirmative action. These rulings will cause deep harm to U.S. higher education – not just to us as workers, but also to our students, alumni, institutions, and communities – unless we push our counter-offensive in a national effort.
We are building a movement to reconstruct higher education institutions as places of opportunity and transformation, institutions that build democracy, achieve equity, foster new ideas and tools to improve lives, and empower us to confront our ecological, economic, and political challenges.
Join us at the end of July for a summer organizing meeting where we will learn, share, and strategize what’s next for the movement for a higher ed system that’s truly for all of us.
Thank you.
Look forward to working with you all, especially university workers who are located in the south and in Republic supermajority states. Onward!
The whole of the labor movement and organizations of oppressed communities must unite in defense of free and democratically organized higher education
