Graduate workers at the University of Oregon plan to strike: How you can support them

Graduate workers at the University of Oregon (UO) plan to go on strike starting January 17, 2024. Already they are seeing many of their jobs being posted for scab hirings. The Graduate Teaching Fellows Federation (GTFF), the union of graduate workers at UO, is asking for solidarity from the higher education labor community.

After nearly a year at the bargaining table, UO still has not brought forward proposals that adequately address GTFF members’ demands for fair wages.

GTFF members need support across the higher ed labor community to make sure faculty and researchers from across the country don’t get deceived into taking jobs from striking workers. Please be very careful when considering applying for any jobs at University of Oregon at this time, as they are likely to be scab hirings aimed to break GTFF’s graduate worker strike.
