National Day of Action for Higher Ed: Get Involved

AAUP-Penn is working together with many higher ed unions, AAUP chapters, HELU members, and student organizations across the country to plan a National Day of Action for Higher Education that will take place on April 17. The aim is not just to beat back the current attacks on academic freedom and on campus protests, DEI bans, and devastating budget cuts to public institutions in many states but to mobilize around a unifying national message that links our local struggles with a set of demands we can fight for together: publicly funded higher ed for all, freedom to learn, job security and fair pay, and democratic governance of our institutions.

The centerpiece of the day will be simultaneous actions on every campus that can organize one: a rally, a teach-in, a walkout, or whatever would be useful and feasible for your union, oriented to the key issues you are already organizing around. There will also be a national event focused on the essential function of higher education for democracy.

Can you and your colleagues join this effort by organizing a local action on your campus on April 17? Please fill out this form to get involved and to sign up your union to participate! And please feel free to email DayOfAction@proton.me with any questions!
