Over the course of the last year, the North Dakota State Board of Higher Education Post-Tenure Ad Hoc Committee has been reviewing tenure and the post-tenure review process at our colleges and universities. They recently prepared a report with findings and recommendations for tenure that could risk the ability of higher education institutions to recruit and retain high quality faculty. If enacted, these recommendations could reduce the job security of all tenured faculty and arbitrarily limit the number of tenured positions at two-year colleges by 2030.
Members of the State Board need to hear from you about how tenure protects academic freedom, particularly in technical education at two year colleges and in instructional settings.
