From Stanford’s Creative Writing Lecturers:
On August 21st, Stanford announced that it is terminating all Creative Writing Lecturers, starting in the summer of 2025, and returning the lectureships to a model of unsustainable teaching positions, where lecturers cycle through one-year, term-limited appointments. We call on Stanford to reverse the firing of the Jones Lecturers, to use the newly increased funding for the Creative Writing Program to hire diversely into sustainable teaching positions, and to end the trend of disempowering lecturers across campus.
