From our colleagues at SEIU:
Tomorrow, SEIU is taking action across the country to defend our freedom of speech and to declare that all immigrants deserve due process and transparency. At more than 10 ICE detention centers and field offices, on college campuses, or wherever we can take a minute to participate online, we’re going to stand together in our union to say we won’t back down.
TAKE ACTION:
- Join or plan a rally. At more than a dozen ICE facilities, detention centers and campuses across the country, union and community members will rally in purple with signs declaring our solidarity and support for the First Amendment. Reach out to Lety Salcedo to add your event or find an event near you. We will post images to social media using the hashtag #4the1st.
- Here’s our messaging for the day, so you’re ready to talk about what we’re doing!
- Post a video: At 1 pm ET, film yourself wearing your union swag and reading the First Amendment, then post it to social media using the hashtag #4the1st.
- Submit an op-ed: Sign our digital form to submit an op-ed to newspapers and ICE offices around the country. Send your letter >>
SEIU Locals and allies have been taking action to call for ICE to release Local 509 member and Tufts grad student Rumeysa Ozturk, Local 925 member and UW Medical Center worker Lewelyn Dixon, and other immigrants detained by ICE. Tomorrow we are escalating across the country. Please join us.
