From our colleagues at the Debt Collective:
Right now, Congress is reviewing markups for a budget reconciliation bill that, if approved, will be history’s most dangerous higher ed bill. The bill will take away the right for working class people to access higher education, severely reducing access to student loans and removing the possibility of cancellation. Make no mistake: this bill, if passed, will bar working-class families from attending higher education. We need to stop it from passing.
Your elected official needs to be put on notice that student debtors demand their important protections are not repealed, removed, limited, or stripped. We demand education that doesn’t put you into debt.
Take action:
- Send a letter to your representatives demanding they vote against this bill.
- Attend the Debt Collective’s Mass Call on Tuesday, May 6 at 7pm ET/6pm CT/5pm MT/4pm PT.
Join fellow student debtors as we discuss the billionaire budget aimed at gutting student debt protections, limiting cancellation and ultimately, resegregation in higher education. If this bill passes, it will be history’s most dangerous higher education bill. Join the call to build debtor power to fight back! - Call your representative to demand they vote AGAINST The Most Dangerous Higher Ed Bill in History
