Call Ohio University President Gonzalez TODAY

From our colleagues at United Academics of Ohio University (UAOU):

OU Management has been taking advantage of legal maneuvers and disrespecting the democratic will of its faculty for more than 14 months. They have chosen to side with union busting lawyers, filing an appeal to our union victory in the Ohio courts on May 22. This is another unnecessary waste of time, resources, and money.

This isn’t just procedural – it’s political.  Higher education and knowledge itself are under attack.  Is this really the road that Ohio wants to take, attacking workers with appeals in the Ohio courts. Every delay tactic is a calculated move to weaken our union’s momentum and test our resolve. It’s time to call President Gonzalez and let her know that Enough is Enough.

This is a low-bar, high-impact action- It takes five minutes to call, but sends a powerful message: faculty are watching, and we won’t back down.

SAMPLE MESSAGE (feel free to use this message or leave your own)

President Gonzalez’s Office Number: (740) 593-1804
Suggested Call Window: Monday, June 2nd from 12:00-5:00pm
Goal: Demand the university drop its appeal and respect the certified union.

Hello, my name is [Your Name]. I am a [faculty member/student/alum/community supporter] of Ohio University, and I’m calling in support of the United Academics of Ohio University.

I’m calling to express my deep concern that the university is continuing to appeal the faculty union’s certification.

This legal maneuver is a waste of public resources and a clear attempt to undermine the will of the faculty, who voted decisively to unionize. We won the election. SERB certified it. The university should be negotiating – not obstructing.

I am urging President Gonzalez to:

  • Withdraw the appeal, and
  • Respect the democratic voice of faculty

The longer this delay continues, the more damage it does to the university’s credibility, morale, and ability to recruit and retain quality faculty.

I’ll be watching closely to see how the administration responds. Thank you.
