Virtual workshop for ICWP volunteers to more effectively organize international campus workers
Hosted by the HELU International Campus Worker Protections Group (ICWP)
Tuesday, September 23 @ 7pm ET/ 6 CT/ 5 MT/ 4 PT
Many of our Higher Ed units across the US are formed by up to 50% of workers who are non-citizens. With recent and ongoing attacks by the Trump administration, the risks and difficulties of organizing among international workers and students have increased. What happens to our unions when we can’t organize half of our workforce? What happens to our collective power? Our leverage? To push back against these attacks, everyone must unite and stand together.
This virtual workshop will train organizers on how to more effectively engage workers on campuses. Attendees can put this workshop’s information to use immediately when asking campus unions to sign the International Campus Workers Protections (ICWP) group’s Collective Demands Letter, and also share their skills with their co-organizers to maximize the benefits of their training.
Attendance is limited to 50 people (primarily ICWP volunteers), so please register only if you are fully committed to joining the workshop for the entire duration (approximately 90 minutes). If seats fill up fast and there is enough interest for another workshop, HELU will host more of these training sessions in the near future.
If you aren’t a current volunteer with HELU’s ICWP campaign but you would like to join a future workshop, email Tracy Berger at tracy@higheredlaborunited.org and we will add you to the list!
