Protect Academic Freedom, Our Faculty, Our Communities – AAUP North Carolina

From our colleagues at AAUP North Carolina:

AAUP NC has learned, through the hard work of AAUP members, that the UNC System is planning to force instructors to publish their syllabi, creating a creating a single, searchable repository of all university and college syllabi. This move would endanger students and instructors by inviting political actors to attack the free inquiry on our campuses. We have a small window of time to redirect this decision.

Sign our petition to protect academic freedom, our faculty, our communities!

AAUP members at UNC Charlotte and UNC Chapel Hill are collecting signatures for this petition to send to UNC System President Peter Hans. This petition focuses on the UNC System’s violation of academic freedom and the clear and unnecessary risk their decision poses to our faculty, students, and communities.

Please share the petition widely!

Names of signatories will not be made public until we reach 200 signatures. We hope to deliver our petition to President Hans this Friday, December 12.

Add your name to this petition to demand that the UNC System protect academic freedom, our faculty, and our communities by abandoning this reckless plan.
