The documentary In Search of Professor Precarious, by filmmaker Gerry Potter, and a panel discussion on “Precarious Workers: Exploitation and Fightback” are being presented online by the Alberta Labour History Institute. The documentary highlights the grim treatment of part-time instructors in universities and colleges and the fight against that treatment. Panelists include Jason Foster, Executive Director of the Parkland Institute, professor, and author of Gigs, Hustles, & Temps; Gerry Potter, film and theatre director, longtime precarious faculty in Alberta universities; Glynnis Lieb, professor and activist with COCAL and CUPE 3911; and Linda Mariani of UFCW Local 401. There will also be a dialogue with viewers.

The documentary will be available to registrants for viewing online in the week of February 14 – 24, and the online panel discussion will be presented on Monday, February 23, from 7 PM to 8:30 PM MST.

This is a free event, but prior registration is required.
