The Trump Administration has announced a freeze on all federally funded grants and loans. We know this will impact critical functions of our colleges and universities. Without funding, patients’ lives will be endangered. Students, workers, and our communities will feel the impact.

Four million people are directly employed in higher education, serving twenty million students and supporting millions more workers in surrounding communities and adjacent industries, including hospitals, medical centers, and research facilities. Colleges and universities are the largest employers in ten states and over sixty of the United States’ 100 biggest cities.

The impact of higher education institutions greatly exceeds these jobs and expenditures, since innovation, research, and the cultivation of knowledge and skills drive all industries.
