Campaign Timeline

August

August, throughout: Contact and obtain acknowledgements from unions at ~50 campuses, introduce ourselves and our campaign, get on their radar, and ask them to endorse the National Letter and spread the word. The National Letter target is signatures from ~50 campuses (plus more signatures from national orgs, and from multiple unions at the same campus!) by Labor Day.

September

September, throughout:

• Campus unions gather momentum: Get other unions on your campus to sign your Campus Letter!
• Build a plan for a day-of action to deliver your Campus Letter to your university admins.
• Continue to contact unions, introduce ourselves and our campaign, and ask them to endorse the National Letter and spread the word.
• The National Letter target is signatures from ~100 campuses (plus more signatures from national orgs, and from multiple unions at the same campus!) by the end of September.

Labor Day Week, September 1st – 7th (Mon-Sun): Official campaign launch! The National Letter target is signatures from ~50 campuses by Labor Day. HELU will launch a ICWP webpage of this campaign, and social media, etc. ICWP will distribute publicity and info materials to unions for them to build momentum. Begin the push for workers talking to other workers and having 1-on-1 meetings.

• ICWP hosts a safe event planning workshop (date TBD)
• ICWP hosts a contract language workshop (date TBD)

October

October, throughout:

• Finish getting other unions on your campus to sign your Campus Letter!
• Finalize your plans for the day-of action to deliver your Campus Letter to your university admins.
• Last push to contact unions, introduce ourselves and our campaign, and ask them to endorse the National Letter and spread the word.
• The National Letter target is signatures from 150 campuses (plus more signatures from national orgs, and from multiple unions at the same campus!) by the hard deadline of October 21st.

Week of October 14th – 20th (Tue-Mon): HELU will distribute the National Letter with ~150 campus endorsements with a press release! Campus unions contact their local press, alert them of their upcoming Campus Letter delivery on October 21st (Tue) and any planned day-of action.

October 21st (Tue): HARD DEADLINE to deliver your Campus Letter to your administrators, with a collective action event / demonstration. National Letter target: Signatures of unions from 150 campuses (plus more signatures from national orgs, and from multiple unions at the same campus!) by October 21st.
