A new accrediting body—the Commission for Public Higher Education (CPHE)—is seeking public feedback on proposed evidentiary guidance for accreditation standards that would govern public university systems in Florida, Georgia, North Carolina, Tennessee, and Texas, as well as the University of South Carolina system. Although the CPHE’s standards would initially apply to specific public university systems in the South, their approach to accreditation may influence higher education governance nationwide.
The CPHE is accepting public comments through March 4 on its draft accreditation standards. Faculty, staff, and higher education professionals have critical expertise that should inform this process and submit a comment.
