Building a National Community College Organizing Space – HELU Open House

HELU is developing a national community college organizing space to strengthen relationships, collaboration, and collective action among community college unions across the country as a meaningful starting point for plugging into the broader higher ed labor movement.

Our Goals:

• Build Connections: Create a dedicated space for community college leaders to share experiences, challenges, and organizing strategies across states and institutions.
• Strengthen Organizing: Support leadership development, membership growth, and coordinated organizing efforts.
• Build on NERB: Expand the relationships and conversations started at the Northeast Regional Bargaining Summit into an ongoing national network.
• Increase Visibility: Elevate the voices of community college workers in national higher education labor discussions and advocacy.
• Develop Collective Power: Identify shared priorities, exchange resources, and create opportunities for solidarity and coordinated action.
