From our colleagues at SEIU Local 73:
Union faculty at Loyola University Chicago (LUC) need your support as we bargain for a fair contract!
Nearly half of Loyola classes are taught by non-tenure-track faculty. However, Loyola NTTs receive less than a quarter of the dollars spent on salary. Full-timers struggle to manage burnout teaching loads and service demands, while part-timers navigate employment precarity and lack of benefits, often working multiple jobs to make ends meet.
After more than a year and 30-plus bargaining sessions, Loyola’s administration refuses to budge on economic issues or acknowledge cost of living as a factor in negotiations. Read coverage and op-eds in the Loyola Phoenix.
Please add your voice to the call for a fair contract now!
Send a letter to Loyola University Chicago officials.
IF LUC management accepts Loyola Faculty Forward United SEIU Local 73 asks in bargaining, there will be a celebration with workers across Chicago on May Day on Loyola’s Lakeshore campus. If they don’t, workers will strike on the Lakeshore campus on May 1 from 9 a.m to 9 p.m. CST. Check here for the latest updates.
