From our colleagues at Bellevue College Association of Higher Education (BCAHE):
Bellevue College AHE members dedicate our work to students’ success. That’s why it’s so troubling that under Provost Jess Clark’s leadership, administrators are failing to come to an agreement with us that values and respects our dedication, expertise, and experience. Not only that, she’s spending $840/hour — more than $40,000 since May alone — on a union-busting attorney, at a time when the college is closing programs.
After months of bargaining, BCAHE and Bellevue College have still not come to a tentative agreement and BCAHE members have been working without a contract since September 1. Jess Clark is trying to weaken and ignore our union, and wants collaborating with faculty to be optional rather than ensured. For Bellevue College to thrive, we need decisions to be centered on the classroom, not the board room, and that only happens when faculty have a strong voice.
Support BCAHE and send a letter to Bellevue College Provost Jess Clark.
