From our colleagues at the Graduate Employees’ Organization at the University of Michigan (GEO-AFT Local 3550):
Philippe Kame. a student at the University of Michigan, Taubman school of Architecture, was detained by ICE in April 2026.
Philippe has recently been released on bond. While this is an important step forward, Philippe’s legal journey is far from over. He still faces ongoing legal proceedings, as well as a grievance related to the university’s breach of his employment contract — the issue that set in motion this devastating chain of events, including his detention, loss of status, and the legal challenges he continues to face.
