Saturday, May 18, 2024

Most of Saturday, May 18 will be dedicated to internal HELU business. These sessions will be hybrid and available only to official member organization delegates and individual members. In-person breakfast will begin at 9am ET. Saturday’s member & delegate-only hybrid sessions will begin at 11am ET/10am CT/9am MT/8am PT. Throughout the day, delegates will discuss the following documents and take up-or-down votes:

  • Governing documents, including the Constitution & Bylaws and Vision Statement.
    • Please note: Points from discussion and debates on the floor will be tabled to a Constitutional Review Committee that will meet to review/revise HELU’s governing documents after the Convention. Delegates from member unions will be encouraged to participate in this Committee work.
  • Committee Priorities: Committee reports and resolutions will set forth organizational priorities and policy in key areas. Delegates should review these committee reports and resolutions, both in preparation for a vote to affirm the resolutions and to consider where member union delegates would most like to plug into HELU committee work.

HELU leadership elections will take place Saturday at 2pm ET/1pm CT/Noon MT/11am PT. All HELU Officer and Steering Committee roles are up for election. Several positions are contested. View the full slate of candidates and their statements online here.

  • Please note:
    • We do not have anyone running as Steering Committee representatives from Service and Maintenance Staff or Non-Collective Bargaining Jurisdiction Organizations. We will be looking to fill these positions soon.
    • Votes will all be done online via ElectionBuddy, so we ask that all delegates, including those attending in-person, bring a wifi-enabled device to participate.
