HELU Founding Convention

May 17-19, 2024

Location

The in-person portions of HELU’s founding convention will be hosted at the Labor Education Center (LEC) at Rutgers University. While we encourage participation in-person whenever possible, we will also have online access via Zoom. If you have questions or access needs, please contact us at info@higheredlaborunited.org.

Lodging

We have a block of rooms at the Rutgers University Inn and Conference Center, which is a short walk from the LEC. Below is information on how to book rooms for the dates of the convention.

How to book a room at the Rutgers Inn

The Inn’s reservation system is ready to accept individual guest room reservations from within HELU’s group block.

Event attendees can log onto the Inn’s website: inn.rutgers.edu and follow the prompts.

The system will require you to:

  1. Click the BOOK A ROOM button
  2. Select ARRIVAL DATE and select DEPARTURE DATE
  3. Select the number of GUESTS
  4. Enter PROMOTIONAL/GROUP CODE: HELU29311
  5. Click the SEARCH AVAILABILITY button
  6. Click the VIEW RATES button for their preferred room type (if multiple room types are offered)
  7. Click the ADD button
  8. Follow the instructions for a credit card payment

Event attendees can only book the dates in our block reservation: 5/17/24 and 5/18/24. If you need to arrive earlier or leave later, and have to go outside of these dates, you will need to log back into the system and make additional reservations at prevailing rates. Don’t re-enter the Promotional/Group Code as you will be making individual reservations, not group reservations. Then make a note alerting our staff that they are part of the HELU group so you can have a continuous stay in one room.

Rate and cancellation policy: non-refundable 100% deposit is required at the time of booking. Reservation cannot be canceled, amended, or adjusted after booking. If guests do not arrive on the reservation date, the reservation will be canceled without refund or credit.

If the block of rooms at the Rutgers Inn is fully booked, we recommend you find lodging through the Fair Hotel page for New Brunswick, NJ.
